STATES IN CHANGE:
National Identity in the UK and Japan

Individual seminars in this year-long series will look at the role of politicians, educationalists and the media in shaping debates on nationality and culture. The series will juxtapose perspectives from Britain and Japan on political change and national identity; on nationhood and nationalism; immigrants, minorities and multiculturalism; class, social mobility and social divides; and gender issues. The concluding seminar will focus on the place of Britain and Japan in the wider world.
Many past seminars have transcripts or presentations available. Please see the page of each seminar for details.
