Grants of £3,000-£7,000 are available to individuals, societies, associations or other bodies in the UK or Japan to promote and support interaction between the two countries.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECT IS ELIGIBLE?
Daiwa Foundation Small Grants can cover all fields of activity, including educational and grassroots exchanges, research travel, the organisation of conferences, exhibitions, and other projects and events that fulfil this broad objective. New initiatives are especially encouraged.

HOW TO APPLY

1. Download the Grant Application Form through the link at the bottom of this page or apply online: http://www.dajf.org.uk/page_e.asp?Section=Grants&ID=446 .
2. Read the guidelines carefully.
3. Complete the form on-screen, print it out and sign it.
4. Post your application to the Foundation. Applications from the UK should be posted to Daiwa Foundation Japan House in London. Applications from Japan should be posted to the Tokyo Office.

There are two application deadlines each year, 31 March (for a decision by 31 May) and 30 September (for a decision by 30 November). However, the Foundation encourages applicants to submit their application as early as possible. The Foundation is also happy to provide advice about possible applications – please contact grants@dajf.org.uk.


WHAT KIND OF PROJECT IS NOT ELIGIBLE?
Daiwa Foundation Small Grants cannot be used for:
*general appeals
*capital expenditure (eg, building refurbishment, equipment acquisition, etc)
*consumables (eg, stationery, scientific supplies, etc)
*school, college or university fees
*research or study by an individual school/college/university student
*salary costs or professional fees
*commissions for works of art
*retrospective grants
*replacement of statutory funding
*commercial activities


DECISION

All applicants are notified by letter from the Foundation. The decision of the Trustees is final and the Foundation is unable to discuss unsuccessful applications.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS
A Daiwa Foundation Small Grant is valid for one calendar year from the date of it being awarded. All recipients must submit a Report to the Foundation within two months of completing the project. To submit a report, do the following:
1. Click on the link at the bottom of this page and save the Report Form to your computer.
2. Read the guidelines carefully.
3. Complete the form on-screen, print it out and sign it.
4. Post your Report to the Foundation. Recipients from the UK should post their Report to Daiwa Foundation Japan House in London. Recipients from Japan should post their Report to the Tokyo Office.
