The following groups have
regular meetings which are open to the public at Daiwa Foundation Japan House.

Sakura-kai
Sakura-kai is an independent study group which started in 1987 with the aim of
teaching Japanese. All the teachers are volunteers, some qualified and others
teaching for the first time. There are six different classes for varying
abilities, which are held on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:30pm. For more information,

Hosei Seminars
The London Office of Hosei University was established in 1975 in order to
promote academic exchange between London and Tokyo. One of its most important
functions was to provide opportunities for Japanese and British researchers
living in the environs of London, to meet and exchange ideas in seminars and
other activities. The Hosei Seminar Series was re-launched in 2005.

Ichiyo School of Ikebana
The Ichiyo School of Ikebana was founded in 1937. It uses a simplified and
systematic way of teaching, with encouragement of personal interpretation
enabling students to make progress within a comparatively short period of time.
Classes are for any level and are held on a Wednesday from 11.15 a.m. to 2.45
p.m once a month.

Nanga - Japanese style painting class
The Nanga School originated in 12th century China and flowered in Japan during
the 18th and 19th centuries. Classes are open to all and will be held from
2.00-4.00pm once a month.
