Daiwa Scholarships 2017
The deadline for Daiwa Scholarships 2017 is Thursday 1 December 2016.
The first round interviews will be held from 6 to 9 February 2017.
The second selection stage will be held on Thursday 23 February 2017.
Final interviews with the trustees will be held on Thursday 16 March 2017 (subject to change).
Daiwa Scholarships 2017 will begin in August 2017 and will finish in March 2019.
The selected Daiwa Scholars undertake a month-long Japanese language course in the UK in August and then move to Japan for the rest of the Scholarship in mid-September. There is also a short orientation on arrival in Tokyo.
Applicants are also requested to send three confidential references (that must be signed and sealed by the referees) to the Foundation by the deadline. The Foundation cannot obtain references on applicants’ behalf. They are an essential part of the application process.
If you are a student or a recent graduate, then your references should come from your academic tutors. If you graduated some years ago or have relevant professional experience, then it is advisable to obtain a reference from your supervisor or line manager in addition to at least one academic reference. Your referees should not include relatives or purely personal friends. The references are a vital part of the application and should come from people who know you and your work in an official capacity.
